Blade Type
Blade Type

The Petty is your smaller knife for delicate work. Think mincing garlic, trimming up chicken thighs or meats, skinning fruit, and just about anything else the Bunka or Gyuto is too large for. It's an essential part of your knife range and we use ours almost daily.

Steel Type
Steel Type Read

Chromax is a high-end, powdered metallurgy semi stainless steel and one of the finest knife-making steels available in Japan. Its fine, uniform grain structure enables razor-sharp edges, all the while holding an edge for much longer than Carbon steel knives, without needing to be concerned about rust appearing.

Known for their refined craftsmanship and technical innovation, Takamura Hamono has become synonymous with elegant, high-performance blades.

Early pioneers in the use of powder metallurgy steels, they were among the first to work successfully with Super Gold (SG2), a material prized for its extraordinary hardness and long-lasting edge retention. Fantastic knife for the money

This knife is super sharp, light and feels good to use. The edge retention is excellent. You need to dry it carefully as the high carbon core will discolour.

An excellent product for the price

Takamura chromax petty

I just bought this knife relatively out of impulse. I don’t have a petty and I thought to myself it would be nice to have one, and the price of 170 which is absolutely nothing is amazing. These takamura chromax punch well above their price. I love this little knife. Light as ****, amazing fit and finish, excellent grind, and almost 100% stainless. It will be a very convenient little knife that requires almost no maintenance, unlike some of my other knives which have to be oiled after every time I use them due to insane reactivity. If I had my time over again, this would be the exact petty I buy. The performance and price is excellent. You can easily blow 500 on a petty. I’ve always heard good things about the takamura knives, I’d like to try the takamura sg2.

The shipping was super quick (and free). I think it shipped Friday and was here Monday with startrak express. From WA to QLD that’s awesome speed! Thanks
